Amy DeLap
Amy DeLap is a painter,
who has lived and worked in Vincennes,
Indiana since 1977.
She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota and grew up in Michigan. Her
concentration on art began in earnest while she was still in high school; she
attended the Interlochen Arts Academy for her senior year. College studies
began at the Tyler School of Art, and also included work at the University of
Michigan and Washington University in St. Louis, where she earned her
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Her Master of Fine Arts degree is from the
University of Michigan.
DeLap creates large-scale representational portraiture of family members
and friends. These are photo-based works, although the size of the paintings
(6'x6' to 6'x8') emphasizes the abstract and painterly qualities of the
imagery. She has also works in non-objective directions, using found
materials, particularly over the past ten years.
Amy is married to Andrew Jendrzejewski; both artists teach in the Art
Department of Vincennes University.
